The Inter-relations of differant interrelated and different ways to describe a dilationof 'x'

I am having some difficulty understanding the concept of dilation of 'x' x values.

As I understand it, the following summarizes 'transformations' in terms of 'x'.x.

f(2x)= "

  • dilation by a factor of 2 away from the y axis" = a

  • A 2x2 matrix with like so:
[ 2 in the top left, 0 in the top right, ]
[ 0 in the bottom left and 1 in the bottom right = 2 ]

  • ((1/2)x,y)x/2, y)

Am I correct? Is there anything I have missed?
