Psychology- What role do the nervous and endocrine systems play in protecting the body from disease while in stress?

What role do the nervous and endocrine systems play in protecting the body from disease while in stress?

A question from VCE Psychology 3/4 textbook.

My understanding was that the actions of these systems while the body was coping with stress surpressed the function of the immune system, hence leaving the body more vulnerable to disease.
