I'm thinking primarily for Customer Support issues (but of course there is the opportunity to expand into something else here...)

We could have Skype buttons on the sidebar or the contact page that signify James, Edward or my availability, and you can call anyone online to get some instant customer support! This would be great for helping out anyone who is having trouble signing up or such.

For unequipped users, typed chat via Skype would also be possible - or is there another platform that would be more accessible for everyone?

I'd like to hear anyone's opinion about this before we renovate some of our old FAQ and About pages (we are going to include some much-requested individual contact details - apart from the faceless merspi@merspi.com email we provide and do check BTW!)

Hmm, I quite like the instant support idea but is there enough demand for it?

I mean I dont get to see how many emails you get regarding issues like these so I dont know but with a good FAQ page it would save you and the admins some trouble having to answer calls and such for what could be a simple problem in the first place.

I think you have struck a good idea for Merspi in the future ;] We could do something like set a designated meeting time for Skype and get live help/discussions going, sort of like our State library meetup but a bit easier for everyone to get to

Great points Terence. Live chat via Skype probably wouldn't get much use and would create a bit of work - but a monthly Skype podcast where we all talk about VCE and Merspi could be a great idea? Would anyone be else be interested in something like this? – James Spittal Jan 7 at 22:30

I like the idea too! It would be great to have skype as some topics/questions are hard to understand without someone actually explaining it to you (vocally).

I remember i spent hours on this one question, but cleared it up in less than 2 minutes with the help of my maths tutor (it's because the textbook missed important information).

Looking forward to this, if this advances :)

Now that I think about it, a really interesting idea. But on one condition - the conversation is to be recorded and posted as a Q&A on Merspi as a Podcast/MP3. – Collin Li Jan 7 at 15:56
