Not really, they rarely use that in their terminology/vocabulary, but you are actually working with lots of electrical devices that would be classified as semi-conductors.

These are:

  • diodes
  • LEDs
  • transistors

Basically it refers to objects that "kind of" conduct (hence, semi-conductor). Think how diodes only go one way, and have a switch-on voltage, etc. It's conditional conduction, which makes it a semi-conductor.
