Am I allowed to drop my seventh subject (which is unit 3+4 specialist maths), considering that I've already completed half of the course at school?

Yep that should not be a problem unless your school has some sort of issue with this. VCAA allows this. |

Try to keep in mind that, if it isn't in your top four, you will still get consideration for how well (or badly) you do in your ATAR - IF you finish the 3 and 4 sequence. A percentage of a poor study score is still more than zero! |

Subject selection is ultimately bottlenecked by your school. You may or may not be able to officially drop it from your timetable. You definitely can't pick up a subject to replace it, as you've missed out on Unit 3. I would recommend staying in it, to give you the option of picking it up if time allows. Specialist Maths is a difficult course, but can be manageable - and can gets easier once you get over the hump (I'd say calculus). At the very worst, you will just get a 0 for Specialist Maths - the same as dropping it. |
