How much is too much? How much is too little? What's 'the right amount'?

My answer is based on what I would recommend for students undergoing tuition. If a student was to receive 2 h of tutoring a week I would recommend that they study that subject for 6 h during the week. This target is not reached by students that often though, however, students who do obtain the greatest benefit from tuition in my opinion. Without tuition, I would think the student would need to study slightly longer, perhaps 8h a week. |

I would say dedicate 2-4 hours per weeknight depending on number of subjects. Or even better, a reasonable amount of time to go over what has been explained in class. As a rule of thumb, an hour of classwork corresponds to an hour of study time and maybe an extra 30 minutes for any homework/test preparation. |
