I'm interested in doing TAFE, and I'm half way through my Year 11 VCE courses.

I've found the work boring and easy, scoring highs on my sacs, tests and exams.

So i wanted to enroll in I.T. related courses but still want to continue a select few of my VCE course at my high school (English and interactive digital media (VET).)

Is it possible to do something like this?

Keep some VCE courses from my high school but do TAFE courses at the same time throughout the year.

I didn't really know where to ask this question but this was the first link for 'ask VCE', so thank you for having a service for this type of thing.

Regards, Reece Williams

Hi Reece,

Yep. It's definitely possible. Are you looking to get credit for your TAFE work in your VCE/ATAR score though? I'm presuming you are. That might be a bit more tricky.

As a first step, I'd recommend calling a few of the TAFE providers that you're considering for an I.T. course and seeing if they can help.

I know of a few students that have completed University level subjects in Year 11 and/or Year 12 and gotten credit for it in their ATAR score, so I'd say it's definitely possible but can't think of any examples that I know of for people doing the same thing for TAFE subjects.

Definitely give a few TAFE providers a call though, I'm pretty sure they should be able to give you a definite answer whether that's something they can facilitate or not. Don't be discouraged by the first 'no', you might have to ask around a bit.

Hope that helps.
