Hydrolysis means to add water. So it is a reaction where H2O is on the left hand side.

Condensation is the opposite. It is a reaction where H2O is on the right hand side.

In general, your body hydrolyses things. It does this to break down the ester/ether/peptide links which were originally formed by condensation reactions.
