As you would probably know, polypeptide is kind of like another name for a protein. However, the polypeptide is the name for a chain of amino acids while a protein is the name of the chain of the amino acids which has folded up into a 3 dimensional shape and becomes functional.

The number of amino acids in a polypeptide can vary from 50 up to a few thousand. Polypeptides will never be constructed by only 5 amino acids. The only time a polypeptide will have only 5 amino acids is at the very beginning of the construction of the polypeptide, when the amino acds are being connected into a chain, however, at that time, the polypeptide is not functional as a protein yet.

Hope that makes sense :)
