I recently received a lower English Study score than I expected, and I was wondering if having my english exam inspected would increse or decrease my marks?

The inspection itself does nothing - that involves you (and an accompanying teachers perhaps) reviewing your exam paper. Then if you find something that warrants remarking (it has to be substantial) you can apply to have it checked. If it is checked I am pretty sure it can be changed upwards or downwards. However the likelihood that it will be remarked is close to zero.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are disappointed with you final result. Unfortunately, Lex is right.

The way assessing works makes it pretty unlikely that the grade will be changed. 2 different VCAA Assessors will have marked each question on your paper without any knowledge of the others' marks or who you are. This means that 6 people, minimum, are responsible for your assessment. If the two marking one of your questions give very different marks, then it goes to a third (who doesn't know what you recieved previously, or even know that there is an issue!) - and if they come up with a third weird mark it ends up going to the board of examiners for them to fix!

It's a pretty fair system.
