If you study engineering/science at Monash University, do you have to choose physics as your science major if you major in mechanical engineering as well, or can you major in geoscience with mechanical engineering?

Except for strange double degree combinations (i.e.: Engineering/Pharmaceutical Science), your two degrees are often independent and hence you can choose majors freely within both degrees.

That is, assuming your trimmed down double degree has enough space for the majors you're aiming for - for example, doing enough to appropriately finish Actuarial Studies or Accounting requires a full commerce degree usually, as a trimmed down commerce degree as part of a double degree is usually not sufficient.

Back to the example of Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science, you are required to do Chemical Engineering as it has great overlaps with Pharmaceutical Science.
